Volunteer mentors needed
Posted on 10/03/2022

Calhoun County ISD is recruiting for volunteers to mentor with local youth.

Description of role: Youth everywhere, including Calhoun County, are navigating through challenges and would greatly benefit from regular, positive interactions with an adult role model. Mentors show up, hang out, befriend, listen, visit, and provide encouragement. Key areas of discussion, including career exploration and goal setting are also common. Annual training is provided.

Schedule/logistics: The mentoring is done at school, and we get the best results from mentors who visit for ~30/mins per week, according to a schedule that is arranged by program coordinators. We understand there will be weeks you can’t make it – that’s ok! Volunteers who can mentor every other week are still encouraged to apply.

Specific needs: Male mentors are in largest demand, at this time, but female volunteers are also encouraged to apply.

Next steps: All Calhoun County ISD volunteers should start the process by applying online at this link: https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/NjAyMzplbi1VUw==

From there, CCISD coordinators will vet the volunteer’s background, obtain campus approval, identify a student for the volunteer to work with, and invite the volunteer to an orientation for training.

Questions: Questions can be directed to Partners in Education at 361-552-5722.
